just ref like you normaly ref... you may be asked to give a flag station check in... so like every half hour or so you will be asked to talley what flag atations belong to what team and what not... you may also be asked to give ou mission cards or just drop props around the field. when droping props leave some in plane sight and others well hidden and make sure yuo dont have a "trailer" trying to find props as you drop them.

not always. some fields only have you on the field for a hour to an hour and a half and you rotate off for like a 10 15 minit brake.

remember that everyone at the field is there to have a good time.

Also, read the rules religiously. eat with them, sleep with them, live with them, marry with them. You don't want to have arguements over the rules.

The best info is just do the best you can and treat everyone the same. Reffing is reffing no matter if it is the SPPL finals or a big game be consitent make same calls for the same things and learn from mistakes. Big games can be fun and a great chance learn a lot. Go for it and enjoy.

What are the details of your particular "medium sized games"? How much real estate do you have to cover, how many other referees on the field, how many players do you expect, how long will you be on the field, is there going to be rental gear on the field which you will be responsible for, what are radio capabilities and rules for commo at the field, what are the accomodations for first aid/injuries? Answering these questions will help you determine things like do you need to carry wrenchs or squeegies to accomodate rental equipment, how much water should I carry for staying hydrated (notice I did not say whether or not to carry water, but "how much"), will I be responsible for first aid, will I need to carry two radios for this event, if there's a lot of ground and not too many people as referees do we have good radio coverage and/or golf carts, or will I need to carry a backpack/gear vest to carry things like a rain poncho, spare air, mission cards, game props or food (during long games it can be helpful to carry a couple power bars).

As far as rules and regulations of the game, it's like everyone before me has said... just know the rules better than any of the players and referee like it was any other game(s). And keep asking questions, it's the second best way to learn.

ok. head ref position should be followed like this.
walk the field offten and chck in with all your refs. have a score sheet set up so if any props are brought in another ref can check them in for points. have the scores sonstently updated to you for the master score sheet.

Sorry buddy, according MXS rules, you CAN play the Grey area, so "tricky" interpretations are OK as long as the rules don't specifically disallow them.
You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last nite, or that you got a ticket on the way there.. your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth.. live it.. love it.. Paintball 4 life..

yes but that is only mxs... scenarios that are maid can go along with any rules such as pyro's realt time rules and so on and so forth. when mxs created these rules they intened for people to try and chalenge them to modify the rules and find loopholes. and trust me i have found some.
