Ok, here's the deal. Some friends and I came up with a tournament idea designed with the woodsballer and big game scenario players in mind. We have most of the details worked out but wanted to get some feedback from other players before we take our idea and gameplan to the local fields and sponsors.

Our idea is to have scenarios or missions that each team must complete to collect points. Some of the games, among others, will be Diffuse the Bomb, Attack the Bunker, and Protect the President.

Basic details so far: 5-man teams
$100 per team entry
Cash & Prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Round Robin style - 20 minute games?
Points per player eliminated and completed objective
Field Paint Only

Our goal is to put on one of our tournaments yet in 2009. We are in NW Ohio and would likely stay in this area at first, but our goal is to turn this into a traveling series that would eventually reach all corners of the midwest. Any input, questions, and suggestions would be appreciated and would help us build a better scenario tournament for you, the woodsball player.

So let us know either way if this is something you would like to see happen or if you think this is an idea that is going to blow up in our faces. Even if you just have an idea that we could incorporate into the tournament format. We welcome all input. Thanks.

Your idea sounds something like this.

It is similar but much more simple. First, finding 10 people to make a team is tough to do these days. Second, No positions and restrictions on positions. No putting players into divisions or classes. No marker restrictions. Paintball doesn't have to be that complicated. Just you, your team and the objectives to complete. Simple as that. Besides, the UWL and SPPL only have one event per year within driving distance of NW Ohio. Our goal is to turn this into a tournament series here in the midwest that teams can show up to more than once a year.

Quote of the year, right there.

Good idea, & interesting concept. Sounds like a ton of work & travel on your part though. For something this size (smaller than SPPL), it seems it'd only be a matter of getting field-owners to commit, which shouldn't be too difficult. The players/teams will almost certainly follow suit. Good luck.

This sounds awesome. Great for the scenario/woodsball player. Will you make it to the west side of Illinois? ;)

If we can't do it, it doesn't need to be done.

Still working things out. It doesn't look as though we will be having a tournament yet in 2009, but we are still looking ahead to 2010. We hope to make it eventually to Illinois but let us see if we can this off the ground first. Thanks for the feedback!

In addition to being much simpler than the SPPL, its also much less expensive.
