so over the summer i've taken up a less expencive and more "accesible" sport then paintball. mountain bike racing.

(before you start yelling i love paintball still.)

anyways, i've gotten into it alot and it's great fun. i've also enjoyed watching videos of trials and MTB'ing so i figured i'd share

just a few of good trials and MTB vids:

Rick Martinson
Ryan Leech (segment from the collective)
Danny Macaskill
VAS MTB vid
Leech (again)
MTB POWAH!

and lastly the whole video of The Collective, broken into a few parts:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5

if you have any others, post em

any other MTB'ers on the Forum?

i ride, more freeride than anything (most "hardcore" freeriders make fun of my bike though)
(it's more a heavy XC setup)

i never really understood the concept of trials.

mostly I do XC races but i do some DH and freeride occationally.

basicly i ride a crappy Trek hardtail... it's all i can afford but it gets the job done... even if i have broken nearly every part on it.

broke the front derailer and replaced it with one of the Deore ones, bent one of the cranks and replaced it, then bent the front chainrings and replaced them again (this time with one of the nice Deore ones), broke two chains, chewed up the freewheel, and finnally i hit a tree during a DH race. it caved the forks in and destroyed my seat, (replaced the forks with a cheap rockshox one).

the frame has held up to all the abuse though... it's just everything else has failed miserably but what can you expect from a $500 bike?

also, that's a fun little vid. you should check your local MBA and see if they know of any good places to ride. I have two good trails that are only a 15 min drive away... I try to go out 2 or 3 times a week when i can squeeze it in.

if you're ever in the mid-michigan area PM me and we can go hit some of the local trails

Very nice. Looks cool, and I hope you enjoy the sport.
