Be aggressive and communicate. Also watch better players and think to yourself "What are they doing, that I'm not doing?" Also, that having fun part is pretty important too :ghillie:.

First and foremost, have fun! Don't compare yourself to other players or be too critical of your play until you have more experience, or you'll quickly become disappointed and walk away from the sport.

As for some playing tips:

Play so that you present the smallest target to your opponents as possible, whether from behind cover, or in open field.

Wear clothing that moves, breathes, and blends in with your surroundings.

Play in at least pairs, alternating suppression and flanking tasks between team members.

Don't bunch up. Maintain spacing of no less than 5 feet.

Never look over cover to locate opponents or view the field.

Never look from behind cover in the same place twice.

Work the sides of the field so you only have to worry about an attack from one side, but don't get trapped against the boundaries.

Don't get pinned down. Keep moving. If you start taking fire, take a couple of steps and drop to cover. Then coordinate a counter-attack or retreat to better cover and then a counter-attack. If you have to, drop to the prone position and slide back from your cover to escape.

Never turn your back on your opponents. Fall back in a coordinated manner, firing short, controlled bursts to keep the opponent honest.

Don't carry more paint than you have gas propellent.

Never approach an objective straight-on, always take a zig-zag path to your objective, working cover as much as possible, and never all of your team at once.

Have a good time, and keep playing. You'll get better with experience, and continue to enjoy the game while you're at it.

HAVE A BLAST! Seriously, thats the best advice for new kids. Play aggressive but don't go Rambo. Ask questions about anything, most PBallers are really cool about that. Don't brag, people know when others lie. If an older guy (older as in more experienced) gives you advice that is reasonable, take it. Don't just sling paint, have a target. Never take off your mask if there is the slightest chance of being hit. Don't be intimidated, paintball is the great equalizer. Anyone can win. And most importantly, don't be first, don't be last, and never volunteer for anything.

Move around as much as you can if it's an open speedball field. If it's a big woods field, try flanking. You'd be amazed by how many eliminations you could get my flanking.

Always clean your gear after every day of play. Wipe down your marker with a 50/50 mix of Rubbing Alcohol and Water, and clean the internals and then lube properly. Your marker will last so much longer.

Thats a nice setup you got there. Just go out there, play a few games, figure out your style of playing and then it should be easier to make a decision about what to buy. have fun

If/When you get hit...check to see if the ball breaks. Don't call yourself out prematurely.

Also...drink LOTS of water!

Have fun!

Be safe, play honorably, and have fun.

In that order.

Pretty much just have fun. Don't ever CHEAT!, play your best every game. Learn from the other guns what to do and don't do. Play smart and don't shoot at cars.

all that fun stuff that other people said...also:
If you tape up the porting on the stock barrel, the accuracy improves a ton. I dunno if this is known fact, but I found out about it somehow.
I told my bro about this, he tried it. It works great.
It's only a game, you don't need to be afaid of anyone, except for ONE person. Its not the teenager with a marker worth more than your car. Its not the SPPL player with about 35 BPS firing rate. Its the 40 year old guy lying in a corner, taking a nap before the game begins. His camo will probably be old, and he will most likely be toting a pump. He's been playing since before you were born, and if he mentions how much he didn't like when he had to play with oil based paintballs, make SURE he is on your team. This guy is a ghost.-Match99
