I have a CP long on my Ion. The only real difference is length...and the long has ports for gauges...but they perform the same.

The 'long' gives you a taller area to grip with your off-shooting hand.

Other than the guage port. The long has a built in non-removeable straight macro fitting on the bottom. The short you can add a 90 deg or straight.

there are actually 4 ways you can have a cp reg

with gauge ports makes it tall and a gauge can be put on it

w/o gauge ports

then a short or long bottom section
longs are straight fitting only and are designed for ppl that use drops

shorts are ment for 90* or straight so the macro line wont bend
