i have my old ghillie out, and im adding more material! Going to search for SNIPER the movie on netflix and get into the spirit!

I have a 100+ man scenario coming up, and lots of work ahead of me. I have no idea why im starting this thread, other than to get my fellow snipers chatting and to help revive this board! :D

SO START POSTING!

Something that an actual sniper told me once, Don't put too much burlap on the suit. Less is more.
I didn't know what he meant for a while, lol, but I eventually learned that if you put too much burlap in it gets clumpy (one of the reasons the store bought ghillies arent fantastic) and if you use less it gives you more room for natural vegetation, which is what will help you hide better.

Yeah thats def true. Another thing i always see...even on the show top sniper, is most guys make their suits too dark. 9/10 times i see a n enemy sniper, its because their suit is much darker than their surroundings.

My suit is madw from and old army coverall. So it has a green base. I just bought some ultra flat tan spraypaint, that im going to add to all the exposed base. Ill get pics when its done.

What is the overall consensus of using a full ghillie suit? I don't know if it's just my style, but after playing with a full suit one or two times I chopped mine up into a bunch of pieces. One that hangs from my shoulders and arms, one that goes around my waist like a hula skirt, one that goes over my back attached to my camel back and then my hat. I couldn't stand how stuff would snag on my suit and I couldn't crawl with it. Now it's much better, but I still usually just play with only the back piece on. Do guys who wear full suits usually stand the whole time? I personally don't ever wanna do that. But what do you guys do/use?

Well mine is a one piece because i made it from an old army coverall. If you see my pics around the forum...my stomach and front of the legs are not covered. This is because i crawl...ALOT when i play sniper. The only time i am ever standing...is when im not playing. Any sniper while moving should move in a crouch stance. Me being 6'4" i have to lower my profile anyway.

So yes mine is a one piece...but its also designed for crawling. I have snagged before...but nothing too serious where i couldnt reach back and quietly undo the snag.

I have a full suit and snagging does suck sometimes but the glass is half full if it snags sometimes it will pick up natural vegetation as you go and that can also help to conceal you. Or before a game I role around on the ground and get stuff sticking to me :-)

Dragging a ghillie is a great way of "seasoning" it.
