Ahh yes, another fun one. And let's cut this one close to the bone, shall we?

In scenario games, I've noticed a trend over the last many years in scenario games. People will step "out of game" to get eliminations or points for their team.

An example for you all. The most common is the "photographer/reporter" shtick. A player is given a mission that involves getting close to the opponent's base (photo recon, demolition, general assassination, whatever). They put on a bright jersey, possibly a camera around their neck, and walk brazenly up to the opponent's fort claiming to be reporting for "Paintball Ragazine dot com" and they want pics of the general doing his thing. And if they don't get it, they throw a hissy fit and threaten to go over the player's heads and get the game director involved.

I don't think there's any scenario game I've been to that a team or player hasn't used a variant of this ploy. The most "creative" was at a game in an abandoned prison. A guy dressed up like a local police officer, got a tour of the place, and when the tour got to the opponents base he pulls out a paintgun pistol and "assassinated" the general.

Before I go into my opinion, what's your take on this type of thing? Is it truly "all's fair" or is there a point that people cross the line? And if so, what would you consider going "too far" out of game to score mission points? Open forum, have at.

The group I play with and all the games I have been to don't have this kind of cheating, we play with honor and most important of all, we play for FUN.

Pretending to be a cameraman when your not, kick that person out of the game.

It just makes us real cameraman get shot when were not supposed to.

I dont think it is fair but still could be seen as a usefull tactic in real life war. But still it seems to be frowned upon by most honest players.

i think it would be fair, the whole point of senerio is to simulate real war. if you don't want your general killed, search the reporters or use 'human' shields and keep a guy infront of the reporter. Thats my opinion, but im one of those guys who want it to be as real as it can get.

If at the start of a game the possiblility of Infiltrators is explained then fine. A twist is always nice. However if somebody is going to add their own twist and plot - then that should not be allowed.

If the scenerio director agrees with it then fine.

on the same note as slinky, unless they say you cannot do this, then i think you should go right ahead.

IMO impersonating a photographer is similar to impersonating a ref, and should be treated as such.

Edit-Isn't impersonating a cop illegal?

To me that sounds like: If they don't say you can't take your truck out of the parking lot and onto the field and use it as a tank, then you can?

I play and sometimes I film. I don't need players pretending to film just to get behind enemy lines because then players start to believe the real cameramen are just some player trying to go behind enemy lines. I get shot enough from stray paintballs and I don't need players intentionally shooting me.

Just because no one said you couldn't, does not mean you should. Play with honor or not at all.

I don't mind the reporter one, but the Police officer one to me is crossing the line, also it is breaking the law.

It is Illegal when Impersonating as one in the Streets, but Impersonating as one in a Scenario Game, ask for a Police ID, cus every Cop has and carries one and if the player cant produce one....go ahead with the Headshot.

Quite simple. The other team is marked out with a different color. So because you are maybe red do you shoot everybody that's not wearing red? Ref's, photographers, anybody else?

Also, IMO impersonating a photographer is the same as taking your team colors off in a game to hide who you are.
