The battery is new but im gonna check and make sure its not low on battery acid. And how would i go about checking the magneto? It sucks because Im trying to trade it to a guy for a 68 chevelle so i wanna fix it soon lol. And that is a pretty nice bike btw. Im not a huge fan of that style but i really do like that one.

thanks, its a hell of a bike and im contempolating getting one,

as for the magneto, i would take it to a motorsports shop and have them diagnose it. if its an easy enough fix, do it yourself. if not, get some help. it sounds like the battery is charged and then it gets drained and the magneto is not recharging it (like an alternator in a car). but then it shouldnt be draining that quickly if its fully charged because the magneto also goes to the spark plug making it that the battery is really only needed for electric start.

why dont you take the battery out, charge it, let it sit for a couple of days, then put it back in a try to start it? if it starts, the battery is fine, if it doesnt start, you know its the battery thats bad.

Suspect a short...

Turn off ignition key.
Remove + (red) cable from battery
Check impedance (Ohms) of red cable to black cable using a multimeter

You should have high impedance with everything turned off. It should go low when you turn the key and kill switch. The meter should beep (short) if you turn the ignition key to crank.
If you have low resistance without turning the key, you have a short or something is grounding your battery. Start checking the wires for insulation wear (usually in the trunk or under your passenger seat a wire rubs the tire) and use dielectric grease on all connectors to prevent corrosion and water from shorting.
