I've been away a while working mostly and building my AR-15.. So paintball has vanished from my eyes. And im leaving for basic in November/December... Might squeeze a few games in but I have doubts....

What's new? Any new paintball trends?
New game style?
New markers?

All the new-year model stuff of course.

Several companies are going back to pumps. Empire rehashed the trracer and did a really good job if it IMO (I own one now), Bob Long is releasing a pump now too.

Im not the most popular paint-ball legend known aside from Tyger and Tom Kaye.

Just letting you know so you dont get stomped after,
People are always like "what field does Eski play at?"
or "First After Eski!!"

one time I got a "34th After ESKI!"

you know.

I figured pumps would make a come back.. Since cost of living is on the rise a speed ball gun will kill the bank.......

So pumps are cost effective

The Phenom was probably the newest edition to woodsball in some while.

Tournament paintball is back on TV...sorta.
NPPL Huntington Beach (Surf City Open) is on ESPN3.com on April 1st, 2nd, 3rd (or whatever the Fri-Sun is that has April 1st).
Live, even!

Bob Long released two new markers. The G6R and the Ripper Victory. They are both sick nasty, as per usual from Bob.
Spec Ops moved to New York so MOATI could get some real beer without having to drive out of state.

Oh, and Smart Parts went out of Business, sold off a ton of stuff, and is back as GoG Paintball. Making almost exact copies of their lower level markers.

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

If your looking into Pumps, this last couple years has been a bumper crop for them. CCM has rolled out the S6, the T2, the J2L the S6.5. The Traccer has hit the market again in a very affordable scenario form, the SL-68-II has come back in that price range as well. Then you have the upcoming Bob Long pump, and Metadyne has prought out a new pump gun, of an interesting type. Mike from CCI is bringing out something new very soon as well.

Avratech, a company I will admit to being part of and a good friend of the designer, has produced a pump called the AV-1 Falcon. I have one of the 10 prototypes currently in existance(Production on the market models are about to begin.) and I must say, its easily the most fun little pump Ive ever had the pleasure of owning. Its akin to a Sterling, but smaller and much more refined. The pump handle is duel rod, you cant twist it enough to bind the system and I havent managed to fill it with enough grit to even impede its shooting at all. It will be available in both stock class and open class forms. Another marker which will begin its run at the same time, is the Retro-7. This is a group up redesign of the Nelspot 007, with many options coming up.

For references:
The new Empire Traccer is roughly $150 new.
The new SL-68-II is $170 new.
The CCM T2 is $550 new(Depending on options and colors)
The CCM J2L is $575 new roughly.
The Avratech AV-1 Falcon is $499 new.
The Avratech Retro-7 is $299 new.

Yeah, that happens. Mine won't let me purchase anymore markers either. Instead I am looking at baby stuff. Now isn't that a scary thought.

$120, actually.

I picked one up recently and it's really nice.
You can easily remove the (clamping) feedneck and breech-load First Strike rounds. It has rails galore, too so it's the perfect platform for a budget sniper marker. Notice the lack of quotation marks around "sniper". Which brings me to my next point:

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned First Strike rounds yet.
They're basically paintballs with fins that are practically dead-on accurate to ~300 feet.
Unfortunately, they cost $0.40/round (when bought in bulk), so there's no cost savings. Equivalent to using 20 balls for one elimination, and if you miss once, you have to use another equivalent to 20 balls to try again.

The new Trracer's still awesome though. Autococker threads make me smile.

Good point, thanks for the save there mate.

First Strike rounds arent that new of an idea. There were finned addons to paint dating back into the mid ninetys and maybe even earlier. Scenario Dreams sells a new age version of the old idea, dab of superglue and you press it onto a paintball. However, that being said, these new First Strike rounds by Tiberius are amazingly fun. They cost more, thats very true, but for the advantages you get, they make a lot of sense.

Oh! One more thing I forgot completely about; The Goblin Solo.

This is an interesting little bugger here. Its basically a paintball derringer. Single shot, shotgun shell style reload that has the co2 stored in the shell much like an airsoft M203 round, but smaller. Now, they arent up to snuff for ranging against other paintball markers, these are built for general assassinations and such. They max at about 250FPS(SHort barrel, and a small volume chamber in the shell) and the orings dont last all that long currently. They have a Deuce in the works(It might actually be out already, I didnt follow the Goblin too closely.) Which is, as you might imagine, a two barrel version. It reminds me of those old side-by-side .410 Derringers.
