Paintball team in essence have many team dynamics. You got set up ranging from that of a pro sports team to that of a military unit. But for woods/ scenario/milsim players, the dynamics are different from that of speedball and the pro players. Most starting out in the tactical type paintball will instinctively want to set up their team along the lines of your basic infantry fire team, squad, or platoon depending on how many players they have to work with. Teams of this nature have a stringed chain of command and at times may fall into disarray the second the team leader is taken out.

More experienced players decide to take a less disciplined approach. These players set their team up around the lines of a military special operations unit and here is were things get interesting. When you see it in popular media about special forces units, they seem to be cowboys or undisciplined, when if fact they are highly professional and have a sense of independence. In other words teams that are set up around those lines learn to think on their feet and react to the situation to complete the mission. The planning in these kind of teams is that everyone regardless of a rank or experience takes part in the planning. If anyone has a mission critical specialty, then the commander will act subordinate to that team member for that piece of the mission or for that operation.

NOTE: I'm not putting down anyone that has served in a main force military unit or those that don't agree with these ideas.
