If you dont want to cause a ruckus and attract attention to yourself, DO NOT set off CO2 powered mines, as they will create a sound that will alert the other team. CO2 powered mines are slightly more expensive and are not usually considered expendable by the owner, so it will likely be set near an ambush or a CP to serve as a first string of attack and/or a warning device for the back door.

My team usually will tie a piece of marking ribbon or a string to the wire where it can be seen. We do not cut the string because we set up our own booby-traps with it already armed and set with a pressure released slip-knot on the back-side to make it go off if somebody cuts it, mark it, step over it, and continue.

Some people say there is no such thing as a paintball sniper. That means we must be doing our job.
Infantry soldiers die in vain for a thousand shots. A sniper dies for the one shot that will change history.

I heard that to avoid trip wire IEDs in Iraq soilders spray silly string in a room and the string will hang over even found it on Youtube. Silly String In Iraq If it works for them in the real world, why not give it a shot?

Learning how to track also helps. With enough practice, and maybe reading a book, and more practice you will easily spot disturbances on trails.

Other than that, send out advance pathfiders ahead, and avoid major trails as much as possible?
