I've been looking for an ideal gear bag without luck recently. I've tried generic rolling duffels, NXe and Dye brand paintball specific bags and so on.
I carry a LOT of gear:
- Smart Parts SP-8 w/stock
- NXe Tactical Vest
- 5 Q-loader pods or 4 140-rd pods
- backup hopper
- tool & parts kit (half the size of a loaf of bread)
- Radarchron handheld chrono
- V-Force Profiler mask
- Neoprene Scuba boots (waterproof - good for slimey indoor fields)
- CADPAT camo pants, shirt & bandana
- ...a bunch of stuff I'm sure I've forgotten.
The problem I've had with paintball specific gear bags is they seem designed for speedball markers - the main compartments aren't big enough for a milsim marker and a vest.
I was at CostCo the other day just for DOO DOOs and giggles and came across a bag that's turned out to be PERFECT.
Enter the Ricardo of Beverly Hills "Beyond a Bag" 30-inch rolling bag.
6300 cubic inches of storage (103 litres for us metric folk). This would be the equivalent of an expedition sized backpack.
For about $45 Canadian, this bag holds everything listed above - and has room for my ghillie poncho.
The two main compartments are huge. One, I keep my tactical vest in, the other has my marker with room for a barrel kit and the ghillie. There are "shoe" compartments - one I do use for shoes, the other I put my mask in.
If you can find this bag, especially at a store with a return policy like CostCo, GET IT. If it doesn't fit all your paintball gear - which I would be surprised to learn - return it. I suspect you'll keep it.
Oh yeah - it has inline-skate wheels and a telescoping handle as well as hidden backpack straps and it's massively overengineered. My last duffel disintegrated when I got all my gear in it and tried to pick it up. This one is beefy ripstop with reinforced stitching and handles.
Top marks. PERFECT BAG.
I went with the green version. FWIW, it looks more "olive" in person - the photo makes it look like lime.
