Think again.

Yes I know that a gun shoots at MUCH higher velocities than a paintball marker does. But it has to make you wonder what the fail point for paintballs and airsoft really is....

not to get in the middle of an admin fight :dodgy:

but somebody should test paintballs and airsoft guns at the highest velocities allowed, and higher, and see what the common fail point of the masks are. i think most players knew a paintball mask wouldnt stop a bullet, but i dont think anybody knows for sure what kind of paintball velocity masks can take.

(quote-Iron Eagle) This is why my preferred way of death is strapping a bomb to myself, walking into PETA HQ and detonating it.
(Quote-weltmaker2000) I don't call my guns pumps. I refer to them as euthanizers of the stupid.

thats a cool video. I like how they used a nice pair of profilers :dodgy:. But anyways I also think someone should do the paintball/ airsoft high velocity test. Great Idea "mass destruction" If i only had a video camera let alone a camera :( .

Masks are perfectly safe for paintballs. If people thought lenses were bulletproof, wouldn't that be what we make tanks out of? :dodgy: The deal is, a bullet has more mass and far more ability to penetrate than a paintball.

I know euglow. But I've seen a couple of people on this very forum claim their lenses are bulletproof.

People can be very stupid at times. I'm hoping that this will prevent or at lest make someone think twice.

you'd have to be pretty thick to think that the little plastic lense would stop a bullet
Paintball/airsoft mask lenses are tested to withstand at least 400fps, or they couldnt sell them

It was my understanding that the companies said the lenses could withstand a shotgun blast.

A 00 buckshot pellet weighs 3.44 grams and travels at 1200 fps FORCE = 4128 EQUALS PAINTBALL AT 1290fps
The largest lead birdshot pellet weighs 1.25 grams, and also travels 1200 fps FORCE = 1500 EQUALS PAINTBALL AT 468fps
The largest steel birdshot pellet weighs .83 grams traveling 1200fps FORCE = 996 EQUALS PAINTBALL AT 311.25 fps
An average 9mm bullet weighs 8.00 grams and travels 1100 fps FORCE = 8800 EQUALS PAINTBALL AT 2750fps
The smallest 9mm bullet weighs 7.50 grams at 1200 fps FORCE = 9000 EQUALS PAINTBALL AT 2812.5fps
A paintball weighs on average 3.20 grams and travels at 300fps FORCE = 960

From this, I would guess that they test using birdshot. The force is the same as a paintball traveling 311.25 fps or 468fps. Something we know a mask can stop, which is over the safe velocity. A pistol simply is not a realistic test at all. If a lens could stop a bullet, cops would wear thin layers of plastic instead of heavy body armor.

#8 birdshot would have a force of 81.95 per pellet.
A 12 gauge would have 44800...holy crap.

This spawns from vforce. I cant remember if i read or heard but it, they stated that because the grill lense sits closer to your face, they made the lense thicker. They then commented about how it could stop a shotgun blast.
