Broadsword is a "finisher" position. If played correctly, a broadsword can engage immediately from a distance, maintain supressive fire throughout the firefight and take out a few opponents when they are paying attention to other players. The broadswords real advantage is a couple of minutes into the engagement, when everyone remaining is down to their last pod or hopper. Now you've got a player who is equipped like a dagger or sabre (4 pods & the air to shoot them) that can aggressively go head-to-head with the remaining opponents (who are all basically playing hopperball).

You don't have to be small, quick, quiet or fast when you can lay down a paint rope from 100' away and walk up on your remaining opponents position, knowing they probably only have a couple of shots left before they run out of paint and/or air.

Unfortunately a lot of broadswords miss this & keep trading paint from a distance much longer than they should.

rock on broadswords

i think we are a select few but without us the teams would never survive. also its fun being a small broadsword. no one expects a 160 lbs broadsword on a team of 200 lbs guys.

one case on kill.

Definitely Rock on Broadswords. I just hate people complaining we are spray and prayers, and how they got X kills from the front line.. yata yata... when they only got to the front line because the guys like us kept their opponents pinned to the floor unable to even peak out at us... Sure I didn't get all the kills, but I let you have the ability to walk around the field that I made into OUR field of fire... That being said I do play Sabre and Dagger positions from time to time, but I ALWAYS remember to thank the broadswords for spending their paint on covering my butt.

On a side note... anyone got some spare cash for paint? :)

I know my job is done when my Ghost Flanker tells me, at the end of the game, "Dude, they heard you start firing and the expletives were in unison!"
Who needs subtlety? I shoot until the woods are monochrome.

Heh, walked on the field yesterday and had about five guys yell out, "We want the guy with the sniper rifle!" Didn't realize they meant me. Three minutes later, with my marker's bipod set up and me laying down about 20 balls a seconds across the field from our tower, with opposing forces shooting back maybe once every ten seconds, tyhe guy standing next to me says, "Yeah, you're not a sniper, are you?"

I looked at him, smiled, and proudly said, "Nope."

Broadswords forever.

Just thought i'd add my +1 in here. I've been a broadsword player for 5 matches now and i love it! not once have the enemy captured our flag whilst ive been leading up the defense and i already have a reputation for flinging lots of paint. My eyesight hasnt always been so great so i get the comment 'the only way we're taking that is if we move really slow and he doesnt see us' LOL

Proud to be a broadsword

70/4500 HPA tank. X7 Phenom. Apex tip. Remote line. Tac vest and 8 200 round pods totalling 1600 rounds! The phenom is good on air so i can shoot 1200-1400 on one fill but i carry a spare or 2 for lighter teammates ;-)

I try to carry the same amount of air that can fling the amount of paint i carry - that way i know by how many pods i have left how much air i have left (see, clever!). I was thinking about a leg rig for an extra 3 pods though so it could be an idea :gunwhore:

I can imagine peoples faces as they see me load up my rig with an entire case of paint. I already get stares when i load up 2/3!
