Let's see who can help answer this one: Did anyone attend the Battle for Baghdad one-day game at FirstStrike back in 2004? If you did, then you might remember the DoubleTrouble we had mounted to the railing of the tower. We ran an airline and regulator off of a 6000 psi tank in the bottom of the tower to the DT. The DT was for "community use" as long as you put in your own paint. Needless to say, this thing was constantly firing all day. The question is this: how many paintballs were shot if the big blue 6000 psi tank was used down to 1800 psi?

I find 7500 shots a wee bit low... :)

I did too...but I used the measurements of the tank to get CI from here:

http://reliable0air....de-systems.html

And used the "Gas Hog" setting. Figure the Double Trouble probably isn't that bad but oh well.

Well, using this formula:

Volume of gas at atmospheric pressure = (cylinder volume) x (cylinder pressure) / (atmospheric pressure)

I calculated the internal volume of air in CF as 1.247 considering that atmospheric pressure is 14.7 PSI.

This gave me 2151 ci approximately. Not sure if this is correct, so if anyone knows if this is wrong please let me know.

At this volume, the calculator in the link already given states that this tank would yield approximately 52,988 shots on "Average".

509cf in scuba terms is uncompressed air. It is NOT the actual volume of the tank(which is how HPA pb tanks are rated). I'm going to assume Sherrif Matt to be the most correct as to the actual internal volume because his numbers sound right.
At 6,000psi(I'm going to do the logical thing and say that since 3,000psi yields 10shots per cu inch and 4,500psi yeilds 15, then 6,000psi must yield 20), I'm going to say that your tank should fire about 43,000 shots with a standard efficiency gun. 22.5 cases. Lets give it a 10% downgrade for the A5 and say 39,000ish. 19.5 cases of paint.

Now, if you are down to 1800psi and we have to assume that you stop firing at around 600 with most guns, then I will(probably mistakenly) assume that you have a range of 5400psi to work with(from 600-6,000psi). Of that 5400psi range, 4200 was used, or around 78%. So if you used 78% of your available working air, then I would say that around 30,420 shots were fired. 15 cases or so. I could be WAAAY off but it seems pretty logical for a full day of crankage on a DT. I know I could run through that much if I had a thick enough wallet.

EDIT: I got the exact same numbers for internal volume as Matt
509=Y(Internal volume)x6000/14.71
Y=1.247cubic feet
1.247 x 12^3=2154
