Windows Movie Maker. I believe it comes free on XP. Should be in the Start menu.

sorry for the necro but guys I need a video editor that can let me put in like snow, tanks and gun shots and it has to be free or cheap. Also is their a way to put parts from a movie(band of brothers) and mix it into the movie? Because I have a history project on WWII and I chose the battle "battle of the bulge".

WMM will let you overlay, I think, so if you can find a video somewhere of snow, just make a new layer and loop the snowfall constantly. Should do the job.

Tanks, I assume you mean engine noise... again, Movie Maker can handle adding audio tracks, so just find a clip you like.

For scenes of a movie, you just have to find some scenes of that movie. Makes sense, right? Anyway Movie Maker will let you clip your "timeline" and insert new scenes. I *think* it lets you import video from a DVD, but don't quote me on that -- I haven't used the WMM in a really long time. You'll run into copyright problems, probably, so check around online to see if you can download the movie clip you're looking for.
