Since we here are all "Special Ops", why not have a deeper circle of destruction?

Black Ops. 5 players, all the latest gear (for the event only, loaned by Special Ops). A force of nature. Stealth combined with superior tactics and firepower.

Picked at random from players at Special Ops backed events by the guys at Special Ops? These players (signified with a single black bar on the shoulder) would then be quietly given instructions to assassinate a leader, assault a single bunker, ect. They would be unknown to everyone and not playing for either side.

Rather, they would be playing at the behest of the coordinators and producers of the event, just to throw some havoc into games. Attacking out of the blue, laying waste to everything in their path; blue, red, whatever.

Also, defeating the Black Ops group(!) could garner a side some sort of extra goodies, like a secret objective inside the mission (anything them imagination could think up). This would be literally Special Ops' black ops unit. No one knows if they've been activated except the people at Spec Ops and the field coordinator. They fade in, cry havoc, and then fade out.

One restriction: If you are playing Black Ops, and you're entire team is wiped out, they cannot respawn as Black Ops. They must go back to their original teams, as chosen in the beginning. After the event, Black Ops operatives could be quietly mailed a single black bar (velcro backed) to put on their whatever to show that they were part of this secret brotherhood of ballers. Perhaps a position patch? We have Daggers, Sabres, and Broadswords... How about a Scythe?

Tell me this wouldn't be fun to coordinate and execute.

sounds kind of cool actually
a lot of speedballers haven't realized that their $500+ guns can, in fact fire one round at a time.

It sounds sorta cool. Although it makes more sense to give the spots to people who have the Elite status.

True!
But also, the need for randomness in the choosing of the team would facilitate a atmosphere of uncertainty.

Is Black Ops on the field? Are they here? Are we safe?
Having Elite status members exclusively on Black Ops would be a tell at events.

"Where did *insert Elite status player here* go?"
"Oh, he went into that tent."
"Oh, God. They activated Black Ops! Spread the word!"

This we would want to avoid.
Thoughts?

Sorry. Had to sleep.
Anyway.

Elite status would most likely be a factor in choosing the team, but it should also be open to regular players.
That was my thought in a nutshell. The above was written with the help of beer, so...

I think that'd be friggin sweet! Of course I would hate to be on the receiving end up a Black Ops whoopin, but I think it would add a great element to the game. If they made it for E.W. 09 it would be great, because I'm planning on being there! Keep it goin!

It's like that sponsorship thing they did. They pretty much already have it. It just wouldn't be practical for your idea to work. Real sponsorships make more sense.

This isnt about sponsorship. This is just about having a group of players, Black Ops, be randomly chosen for large scenario games. It would be a gas just to have them.

Having used teams like this in the past at other scenario games, I know from experience the psychological impact an unknown third party (with seemingly their own agenda) has and would have on both sides of a conflict. The tension would rise, and there would be fear on the battlefield. Everything would be raised one notch on the old twitchmeter, for everyone on the field.

What would it be like to suddenly have a black-clad team of commando just appear in your command center and execute your field commander and/or staff? Or in a WW2 game, have them be something different. A Nazi supersoldier experiment gone wrong. Something, anything.

Like I said earlier, Black Ops would be there for the impact and the fun they could bring to the game.
