I think there should be a College Paintball League(CPL)! that would be awesome and paintball would surely be more popular! ;) [COLOR=blue]

I've been trying to find people at my college to start a team with, but a lot of the people here won't even talk to woodsballers. O.o;; Then again, I do look fairly out of place on speedball fields with digi-cammies O.o;;

College Paintball is a really good experience and I would recommend joining any colleges club. Yes, at colleges they're clubs or RSO's (registered student organizations) ran by the students. If you decide to join the schools team you will get to play w/o trying out. However, the more skilled you're as a player the better the team you'll play on for that college. For Example, the way we ran it for our 5 man squads was we had generally 2-3 teams. ISU Black being our 'A' squad. ISU White 'B' squad. and ISU Red 'C' squad. The least experienced players get filtered down to a lower squad with players of similar skill level. You make a lot of new friends that are all excited about tourny and rec ball as the next guy and you compete nationally. I played for Illinois State University for 4 years 02-05 and served as the president of the Club in 05. In 2002 there was about 12 college teams and the format was only 5 man. Now it has grown to over 60 collegiate teams from all over the nation and the main format is X-ball along with 5 man. The most exciting part about it is every year there is College National Championships where you meet teams from all over the nation. Nationals is really the only chance you'll get to play teams outside your conference unless your club is funded heavily by the school. Nationals is usually held at an awesome place every year, I recall twice going down to Orlando, FL and playing at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. If anyone is interested feel free to ask me questions about the NCPA (National Collegiate Paintball Association) or the ISU Redbirds Paintball Team. Go ahead and check out ISU's team website at www.redbirdpaintball.com

I played on the Michigan State University Paintball team when it first began, back around '99. The leader at the time was legendary for being a class-A DUMPERhole and he really hurt the team. Last time I checked, they still had a team as of last year. It would be great to see those guys at a field sometime and fall in with them for a day.

Redleg 64, I hope you are putting more thought into picking a school than just thier paintball team. There is a pretty dramatic difference between GVSU and MSU (not that GVSU isn't a good school, my sister-in-law went there and got a great education).

Yeah, college paintball seems to be getting big. Two or three schools here in WV have teams (clubs). I looked the other day and there are like 325+ teams out there now. So I'm wondering, how do I get a team started here at good ole' U of C. Any of you team-experienced players have any ideas?

I know that when Michigan State U started their paintball club, the organizers approached the Undergraduate Student Council for funding to buy 10 "markers", Tippmann M98's. The council approved the funding and bought the guns. Boy, were they TORKED OFF when they found out that "markers" are actually paintball guns. He didn't lie though, so they couldn't do anything about it except make him register and store the "schools" guns with campus police. Then he set about finding local shops to kick in discounts for the team. After that, it was all advertising on campus to get players. Before long, there were enough for two teams. Piece of cake!
