I got a new computer yesterday. I know some people here helped me a while back with some (ok, a lot) of questions I had. Thank you again. In the end I had in put together by a local company. The owner helped with a lot of it, making suggestions and recommendations. I got it for cheaper than from any major company i.e. Dell or HP because I didn't have to get an operating system (got it free from my college) and didn't get any useless add-ons like memory card slots (that's why they provide a USB cable with your damn camera!).

I can't remember all the exact parts and specs (it's all packed away right now because I'm moving into my dorm tomorrow), but I'll list what I can remember off hand.

2.6GHz AMD dual core processor
Nvidia GeForce (7 series, can't remember the number) 512MB graphics card
CD/DVD drive
CD/DVD burner with Light Scribe
Windows XP Pro

Samsung 19" LCD flat panel TV (with PC input), serves double duty as my TV and monitor for my room, only $500
Logitech X-240 speaker system
Logitech MX-400 performance Laser mouse
Saitek Eclipse II keyboard with back light
HP printer

It runs Company of Heroes amazingly.

Total Price: $1700

Originally I wanted a better graphics card, but the owner does some gaming as well and recommended going with the 7 series for now. NVidia is supposed to be coming out with a 1GB graphics card sometime in the fall. After that, the price of current cards should drop, and by the time I really need a better graphics card, the price will have dropped more and I can get a better deal. It was a compromise, save some money now and get it later for cheaper.

At least your video card is better than mine, I pray to god every night, hoping my system can handle Bioshock.
If not, oh well, I'll just have to wait a bit longer.

Nice rig though, personally, you don't need to get a new video card, I'm sure the one you have now is awesome enough.

Don't sweat the card, a 512 is plenty for now. Hell, I've never met a game that my laptop's X1300 Mobile-hell, or even my old GeForce 5200FX couldn't run.

Nice machine, I approve.

What's wrong with vista? I have vista on my laptop, and xp on the other pc. I couldn't find any new pc's that had xp.

Ooh, sounds nice. Good job on choosing your components B). Now be careful with its software (good security! I can't stress that enough) and keep it well maintained and it's going to keep you happy :(.
