Alrighty, guys and gals, this is THE 70's music poll to end all polls (I hope).

I've compiled 40 of the greatest Rock and Roll hits of the 70's, and made five lists, due to the 10-choice limit on each question.

if you look at the choices, you may choose to decline from picking any of the songs. while I would like you guys to pick one all-time great, I guess it doesn't matter if you pick more than one hit.

I'm sorry if I missed any songs, or for any bias you may see in here. I did pick what songs I found to have good reception and were considered 'hits,' so I apologize for any ones I missed.

happy polling to you all.

EDIT: pick any songs you like from each list, and I'll throw the top two from each list into another poll yet to be made. the deadline is one week from now. get voting!

calm down, I'm pretty sure he didn't make that remark against you. Unless you named every song made in the 70s theres no way everybody can be happy.

Hard to pick one, but I went with Smoke on the Water. Iron Man was another possible choice, and it's better than Smoke one the Water originally, but Smoke on the Water's Live Japan version is amazing.

after a little thought, I want to change the terms of this poll.

I guess I can set this up like a playoff for the best song, pitting the most picked songs from each respective list against each other in another poll I can make in say... a week? sorry if I screwed up some of you guys who stuck to the one-vote rule, but I'll see how this pans out in a week, and I'll set up another poll for the single top song (or multiple, if the top songs are tied) from each list. how's that?

Sounds good.

Oh, and all of those guys saying "Oh I'm too young for '70's songs," I'm 15 and my favourite song ever is probably Smoke on the Water. You don't have to be around when it's made to appreciate it ;).

All GREAT songs. Damn, that was tough picking the best ones. Yep 70's and early 80's rock is my favorite. Although you left out IMO the best LZ songs, Black Dog and When the Levee Breaks. The ones you have listed are good, but IMO not better than some of the other songs listed.
