i have a A-5 with a long bow stock and a 16" stiffi barrel. I was wondering wat should i get, a closed tube red dot or an open red dot. i was thinking on getting the stovepipe because the stock A-5 hopper is in the way. I also dont want to get an offset rail because i am left handed, but, i might get a riser because of my mask.

Closed sights are better. If the sun shines just right on it, you wont see the dot

i have an open red dot sight.. n I've never had a problem with the sun affecting mine. i wouldn't change for a closed one. i got it for quick draw shooting, and its just not a quick when u got a tube to look through. i would go with open if i were you :ninja:

I use an enclosed Red dot.

Some complain that they can't use your perefrial vision and they do not have open sight but I figure that's what my hearing is for. If you listen you'll hear a person move in and out of position. A marker is no where near as loud as even a 5.56 rifle or a Russian 5.45 rifle. Even a 9mm pistol is still louder than a marker. Listen for people, you'll know.

I've owned several of each type.

I prefer open for not blocking my field of view but closed for durability and dot-visibility.

The only exception is the Eotech holosight which is kind of a hybrid of both. They're also $500+ so I'll pass on that.
