Our rule is--You can ask someone to surrender but you don't have to and if you do they do not have to surrender. In 5 years we've never had a problem. The only time I've ever surrendered was when I had laid my marker down and someone stuck a barrel to my throat. Yea, that was a no-brainer. lol.

It really depends, if I'm moving quickly on a flank and don't want to slow myself down by stopping to ask for a surrender I shoot them.

Well, what do you mean by surrendering? As in calling a "safety kill" or as in waving the white flag when you think you're about to get pwned?

First, I never surrender myself in a game, gear or no gear, I'm in it till there is a quarter size paint splotch on me.

As for calling it for other people, I usually always ask before hand if they want to call "safety kills" or if bunkering is okay.

Not being sissy, but I prefer "safety kills." There's something about being close enough to pwn the other guy but showing you're cool level and decide to leave him without any welts... idk, Kinda like a life-debt, black mail thing... Plus, it hurts for anyone to be shot at point blank. But I'm game with either.

EDIT: Never played a game where the surrender was optional, but if that were the case, I'd simply bunker them.

Paintballer AND Airsofter

98% of forum members have a stupid, far-fetched statistic like this in their sig. If you're in the 2% that don't, post this in your sig.

at my field there is NO bunkering, the field frowns on it.
( there are some** exeptions..)

it is a 10 foot mercy rule.
no barrel tags.

within ten feet you Must ask for a surrender.
or you can flank and shoot away.

exeptions:

sometimes close range shots are going to happen, should the ref see that a close range attack is going to happen we will not stop it depending on the situation. good example. It was an attack the flag game and i was running up the left side, un benouced to me another player was doing the same thing. after a couple seconds he comes barreling through the woods, shoots me and the next two guys out before being eliminated. we were all okay, he only shot me twice.

I usually surrender because I play against a lot of new players so, bunkering=meany. However, some times I get self-proclaimed cheaters that'll try to run me down or whatever in which case I shoot them asap while yelling at their cheating butts. I've not really bunkered many people I've probably defended myself from run through's more than anything, and unless they're newbs I'll shoot them with out a second thought.

i almost will always do bunker. even if the person is new i look at it this way; at the end of the day he comes home and says look at all my welts!!! it was a blast! VS. coming home and saying it was fun and i don't have any welts =[

i would rather be bunkered

While I prefer surrender. I amount of "Oh he had me, and asked me to surrender, then I shot him stories" So now I just bunker people. Honestly, If you bunker me, thats alright. Kindof fun. But I can't stand it when I ask someone to surrender, and they turn around and shoot me. For one it kind of makes the whole stalk the enemy thing useless, and it feels like taking advantage of my good will not to just light em up.

I like bunkering, but in reality. I'll do whatever it takes within the means of safety.

My field has a rule that if you're nice and you're 10 feet away you should ask them to surrender but if they don't answer then you can shoot them. You're not required to do that, but some people do. But me personally if I'm behind someone I'll shoot, just not in the head, generally the pods or the foot.

I usually bunker people. I find that people get torked at me either way.

We were playing rec speedball and had a few people who had barely played any paintball, and when they played it was woodsball only. One of the newer players was the last one left on the other team so I ran up and offered for him to surrender. He spun and shot, missed me, then I shot him in the shoulder. He was absolutely PERTURBED that I shot him that close and freaked out on me for a good 5 minute rant.

This was also the same guy that tried ambushing 3 guys in woodsball and got mad when he got hit a total of 5 times. Some people...

I bunker unless it's a kid or someone who has absolutely no idea that I have an easy shot on them. We also have "bunker tapping" at our local field. For those of you that don't understand "bunker tapping," it's smacking someone's bunker very hard to let them know that you could have lit them up very easily. It's a mandatory walk off the field for them.

The field i play at has a 10 foot surender rule. If its a little kid i will surender him if its an older player i usualy just stay outside of the 10 feet and shoot once or twice.
